I named this Mikey's Lightning because this was the first storm chase I took Mikey on with me. We stayed in the car as it was raining, but he was pretty freaked out. He was still a mamma's boy back then. I saw the lightning and shot this handheld, getting lucky enough to capture the lightning. These storms moved through the Flint Hills the night before the Flint Hills Death ride in 2010.
I love riding a bicycle. I also love capturing images and have been a professional photographer since 1990. The collision of these two activities resulted in the creation of the Adventure Monkey web site (adventuremonkey.com). The purpose of Adventure Monkey is to inspire people everywhere to get off the couch and do something great with their lives. That may simply mean getting outside and appreciating the natural world surrounding them. I hope to inspire through my images.
